Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NKJ)
He (Jesus) was also saying to them (to some Pharisees and scribes), "You nicely
set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.
"For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who speaks evil of
father or mother, let him be put to death'; but you say, 'If a man says to his father
or his mother, anything of mine you might have been helped by is Corban' (that is
to say, given to God), you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or
his mother; thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have
handed down; and you do many things such as that." Mark 7:9-13 (NAS)
No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God (Jesus), who is in the bosom
of the Father, He has explained Him.
And this is the witness of John (the baptizer), when the Jews sent to him priests
and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" And he (John) confessed, and
did not deny, and he confessed, "I am not the Christ."
And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he (John) said, "I am not."
"Are you the Prophet?" And he (John) answered, "No."
They said then to him (to John), "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to
those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?" He said, "I am a voice of one
crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet
said." John 1:18-23 (NAS)
