By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees
his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide
in him? I John 3:16-17 (NKJ)
And going on a little farther, He (Jesus) saw James the son of Zebedee, and John
his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
And immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with
the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.
And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue
and began to teach.
And they were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority,
and not as the scribes. Mark 1:19-22 (NAS)
Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples,
which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in
His name. John 20:30-31 (NAS)
