Hebrews 4:15-16 New International Version (NIV)

15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Ok, I want you to consider this one carefully. If God's will is automatic then why would we need to approach God to receive mercy and grace in our time of need? Why would we even bother praying at all? We pray because God's will is not automatic. Let me apply this to real life.

A drunk driver hits somebody and they die. Was that God's will? Did God decide to take that person to heaven? Death was never God's will for us. That is why God warned Adam in the Garden.

Genesis 2:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

Adam died spiritually, he became separated from God, the day he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It was never God's will for Adam to eat from that tree. It was never God's will for Adam or for us to die. God had to make plans to redeem us, to win us back and pay our debt of sin. That is not what God wanted. God told Adam not to eat from that tree. God was honest with Adam. God told Adam what He wanted him to do.

The person that dies at the hand of the drunk driver is not God's will. God wanted that person to live a long and full life. You see, it is never God's will for us to sin. We know from the Bible that drunkenness is sin. God gave us a free will. God can not stop us from sinning because God gave us a free will. Sin has consequences and most of the time those consequences affect other people. Sin is not a private matter. Sin affects everybody around you. Adam's sin affected all of humanity. The things we suffer are a consequence of Adams sin.

Sickness and disease are also a part of the consequence for sin. There was no sickness in the Garden and there will not be any in heaven. Sickness and disease are not God's will for your life. Health and long life are God's will for you. God has written it all down in the Word of God. In the Word of God you will find instructions from God on how to live long and prosper. Just follow the instructions and you will have no regrets.

Speak the Word: Father, I will obey the Word of God. I give the Word of God first place in my life and I will live long and prosper.
