And He (Jesus) entered the temple and began to cast out those who were selling,
saying to them, "It is written, 'And My house shall be a house of prayer,' but you
have made it a robbers' den."

And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and
the leading men among the people were trying to destroy Him, and they could not
find anything that they might do, for all the people were hanging upon His words.

John 18:19-24
The high priest therefore questioned Jesus about His dsciples, and about His teaching.

Jesus answered him, "I have spoken openly to the world; I always taught in synagogues,
and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and I spoke nothing in secret.
Why do you question Me? Question those who have heard what I spoke to them; behold,
these know what I said."

And when He had said this, one of the officers standing by gave Jesus a blow, saying,
"Is that the way You answer the high priest?"

Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken wrongly, bear witness of the wrong; but if
rightly, why do you strike Me?" Annas therefore sent Him bound to Caiaphas the
high priest. John 18:19-24 (NAS)
