5 … God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Why did God pour love into your heart?
1 John 3:23-24 New International Version (NIV)
23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
Through the Holy Spirit, God has poured love into your heart, so that you can love one another. You have Holy Spirit power to walk in love. Let's take a look at how the Bible defines love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]....
Do you see where this going? You have love poured into your heart so that you can be patient, kind and to never envy. God has poured out so that you are not jealous, boastful, or vainglorious. The Holy Spirit has strengthened you so that you can walk in love.
Walking in love is not only a commandment, it is the most important thing you will do in this life. When you stand before Jesus and give an account for your life you will be judged by what you did with the love God has poured into your heart. Did you cultivate and develop that love or did you stifle and disregard the love? We will be examined according to the law of love. Will Jesus say to you, "Well done good and faithful servant"?
Speak the Word: Father, I have the love of God poured into my heart. I walk in love with everybody. I keep the commandment of love.
