Quick Thought:

"We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was and who is
to come, because You have taken Your great power and reigned." Revelation 11:17
(NKJ)

Matthew 23:1-7
Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying, "The scribes and
the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses; therefore all that they
tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things,
and do not do them.

"And they tie up heavy loads, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves
are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger.

"But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries,
and lengthen the tassels of their garments. And they love the place of honor at
banquets, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and respectful greetings in the
market places, and being called by men, Rabbi." Matthew 23:1-7 (NAS)

1 Peter 2:21-25
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving
you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any
deceit found in His mouth;

and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered
no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;

and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin
and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually
straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your
souls. 1 Peter 2:21-25 (NAS)
