Acts 1:1-9
The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach,
until the day when He was taken up, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders
to the apostles whom He had chosen. To these He also presented Himself alive, after
His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty
days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
And gathering them together, He (Jesus) commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but
to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," He said, "you heard of from Me;
for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not
many days from now."

And so when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at
this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them, "It is not
for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;
but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall
be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the
remotest part of the earth."

And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on,
and a cloud received Him out of their sight. Acts 1:1-9 (NAS)

Luke 11:5-10
And He (Jesus) said to them, "Suppose one of you shall have a friend, and shall
go to him at midnight, and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend
of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and
from inside he shall answer and say, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been
shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.'

"I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is
his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as
he needs.

"And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened to you.

"For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks,
it shall be opened." Luke 11:5-10 (NAS)
