John 14:26 Amplified Bible (AMP)

26
But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

This verse tells us a lot about the Holy Spirit. Have you noticed everything that the Holy Spirit does? – Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. This verse contains a wealth of information. Let's take a quick look at each of these.

A comforter is somebody that will cheer you up. They will help you see hope where you saw no hope. A comforter will pick you up when you are depressed.

Counselor is word for someone that has been appointed to advise. Now, you want to catch this because it is important. God has appointed the Holy Spirit to advise you. I recommend that you take heed and do what the Holy Spirit advises you to do.

Helper is someone that supplies anything that is wanted. The Holy Spirit will supply you with everything that the Word of God says belongs to you. Does the Bible say that health and healing belong to you? Does prosperity and success belong to you in the Word of God? The Holy Spirit is you helper and will supply you with everything the Word of God says you can have.

Intercessor is someone who will try to bring two parties back together. The Holy Spirit is working to restore your relationships. Is there anybody in your life that you don't talk to anymore? Pray for them and ask the Holy Spirit to restore your relationship.

Advocate is somebody that pleads the cause of another in court. The Holy Spirit is your advocate and pleads your cause directly to God. The Holy Spirit will help you pray to God as you should pray.

Strengthener will increase physical and moral strength. The love of God was shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). As you grow in walking in love, you have been strengthened to do what is moral, to do what is right and good.

A standby is somebody that will stand next to you, even when things are rough. Your friends may have fled but the Holy Spirit will not leave you. The Holy Spirit will be inside of you every step of the way.

Speak the Word: Father, the Holy Spirit is my Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for everything that you have done for me.
