DAILY DEVOTIONAL

July 14

Galatians 6:7-9 New International Version (NIV)

7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Is this starting to make sense? Is it opening up something for you? Do you see how Satan wants to get you to react in a fleshly, natural way and how God wants you to walk in love with your enemies? When someone offends you or hurts you can strike back, that would be sowing to the flesh, or you could walk in love, that would be sowing to the spirit. What you do, will determine what you get. What you do, will determine what you reap.

OK, so you've decided not to take offense. You've decided you don't want to reap destruction. You would rather reap the God kind of life (zoe). What else should you do? You should rejoice!

1 Peter 4:12-14 New International Version (NIV)

12
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Did you see that? When you rejoice in the midst of a difficult trial the spirit of glory and of God will rest upon you. When the Spirit of God is resting on you, you will do those things you could not do by yourself.

Mark 10:27 New International Version (NIV)

27
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

Speak the Word: Father, even when I am faced with the impossible, I can succeed through you. I will not take offense. I will walk in love.
